The Crone Information for the advanced practitioner |
||||
|
The Crone is the third
aspect of the Triple Goddess. She can no longer bear children, and she
ceases to bleed with the cycle of the moon. She is symbolized by the
waning crescent. She is a wise woman, at the end of her long life. She
is a goddess of crossroads, a place that was believed to be where the
living and the dead could cross paths. The most well known of Crone
Goddesses is Hecate, the Greek Goddess of night. In Egypt, she was
called Heket, the Dark Moon Goddess. The Triple Goddess can be seen in
the cycle of the moon, and it is here that she ends, to begin again with
the Maiden cycle.
